The 1st Soviet space expedition consisting of three spaceships leaves for Venus. While approaching the planet one of the spaceships perishes. The crews of the other two manage to land. Among them there is one foreigner and robot "Iron John". The two crews move towards each other. One of the ships with one cosmonaut on board stays on the orbit. Before the characters find each other and return to Earth they are destined to observe a volcano eruption, experience plunge to the sea bottom, encounter mysterious animals. They face all the extreme situations with dignity.
Based on the story of A.Kazantsev of the same title the film features the 1st expedition of earthlings to Venus. Shot in far more than humble technical conditions the film nevertheless strikes spectators by amazing visual sceneries which were not merely inferior to Hollywood films of the time but even exelled the latter.
THE PLANET OF STORMS was bought for distribution by 28 countries. It forms part of syllabi of American cinema schools as demonstration of higher cameraman skills and ability to create a masterpiece virtually out of nothing.
And it is not in vain that Stanley Cubric and George Lucas call the film director Pavel Klushantsev their "godfather" and teacher. In his film Pavel Klushantsev revealed numerous technical tricks which in the following made possible appearance of such epic films as SPACE ODYSSEY (S.Cubric), STAR WARS (G.Lucas).
